The primary concerns of the study focus on: (1) the direct effects of the individuals¡¯ intimacy toward the parent on their willingness to perform care-giving practices, their emotional commitment to care-givng, and efficacy in care giving roles; (2) the mediating effects of an individual commitment to care-giving and their self-efficacy for care-giving roles on their willingness to provide care-giving practice resulting from their intimacy towards their intimacy towards their parents;(3) the second order mediating effects of the two mediating variables. Research is based on a survey conducted with middle aged married males(318) and females(456) who have at least one living parents, residing in Daegu or Kyungpook province. In order to address the research questions, a structural equation model is explored. Total indirect effect, each individual mediator¡¯s effect and the second order effect of two mediators(emotional commitment to care-giving and self efficacy of care-giving roles)are verified based on bias-corrected bootstrapping analysis using
Mplus. Practical implications are discussed based on the study findings.
